Hi Folks,
I’m upgrading my Craftsman RAS with a Bosch 4410L Miter Saw.
After scanning the internet I have found a few dealers with
comparable pricing and differing freight charges.
Can you tell me who among these companies are of good repute?:
Bosch.CPOtools.com
ToolBarn.com
AceToolOnLine.com
Who should I do business with / stay away from?
Many thanks for your advice in advance.

I've used CPO Bosch (which is not owned by Bosch BTW) several times with no problems what-so-ever. I cannot comment on the other two.
BTW.. probably a good thing I had no problem or I would have showed up at their door-step. They are located about 10 miles away from me here in metro Atlanta. :>)
Sarge..
I also have had several very good transactions with CPO Bosch. Their shipping is always fair, and I've yet to have a problem with any of their products.
I just purchased a 1 1/2" SDS MAX concrete drill bit from them 2 weeks ago. They quoted 3 to 5 business days for the freight choice I chose. It arrived in 2 days.
I purchase from them probably 6 to 8 times a year.

I purchased that exact saw from cpo bosch, as a reconditioned model. I was very happy with the saw and the whole transaction. I have since bought a hammer drill and a belt sander from them also. No problems. I have also had good luck with toolking.com

how about going to your local tool supplier, show him the online prices (he already knows them), tell him you'd rather deal locally and support him, as ask what he can do. my local guy will try to work with me, and we almost always find a happy middle ground.

bought my 5412L from amazon. When it arrived without the laser bushing (someone at UPS had opened the box and swiped it), Amazon sent another, no questions asked. They did take back the first one...kind of a odd way to ship a laser thingy.
Also, excellent price on Amazon, and got a free jig saw withit.
Shop around. There are many deals available on the 'net (the usual retail outfits, plus Craigslist and ebay), but you can also find great buys in stores. I was able to buy several Makita tools when a local retailer decided to quit carrying them. (That was a few years ago and all of the tools have served well--"50% off the lowest price marked").
Since my budget is generally pretty limited, I first look around for what will do the job well, then for a good price. Patience usually pays off.
There are some tools that I would seriously love to have, but "the deal" hasn't yet opened up. In the meantime, I check out websites and regularly visit stores and wait for what I "need" at my price.
Dear Bill,
I am not familiar with any of those vendors. The ones that I use are :
1) Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-4410L-10-Inch-Sliding-Compound/dp/B0007LQPTC/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1218587587&sr=1-5
2) Tools Plus http://www.tools-plus.com/
3) Coastal Tool http://www.coastaltool.com/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/main.htm?L+coastest+tkjy5098ff5d815d+1218616916
4) International Tool http://www.internationaltool.com/bosch.htm
Plus a local vendor called "Hometown Tool". http://www.hometowntool.net/catalog/index.php
Best,
John
I've gotten several tools from Coastal Tool and found their customer service to be extrordinary. They're my first choice.
