I am about to undertake a large resawing ( about 4000 bd ft ) of 1 5/8 Clear white oak . I will be dividng this into 3/4 boards. Any advice on blade thickness ( have a 17″ Grizzley) . Width will range from 4 to 13 inches . Also, how many board feet per blade should I expect. Thanks for any help.

I'm sorry to not see a reply here as I have the same question. It seems awful quiet on here compared to how it used to be.

re-sawing white oak
I have never monitored how many board feet I get per blade, but ...
I do use the Wood Slicer from Highland Woodworking on my Shopsmith 11" bandsaw and am very happy wiht its perfomance. I have used it on white oak (20 years in the shop before used). I use the 1/2" model based on the bandsawing advice at url

If that doesn't help, you might try to contact them. Full disclosure: I am not affiliated with Highland Woodworking other than getting some projects published in theiri online magazine and I got the Wood Slicer before any of that happened.
And yes, this site has quietened down a whole bunch. It is discouraging to open it up and see spammers swamping out questions and posts. Lots of old time user just quit for other sites. As you can tell today, FWW has not figured out how to stop the 'kitchen spammers' from the U.K. Bummer.

White oak is not that much of a problem with bandsaw blades. I have used the Wood Slicer from Highland Woodworks but after going through 2 blades on my Powermatic 20" bandsaw cutting some very hard and dense Brazilian Boxwood, I switched to a Bi-Metal blade from my local supplier (Standard Saw in Oakland California) and it should last me years even with the hardest exotics.
For White Oak I wonder if your going to be able to yield 3/4" boards sawing 1 and 5/8" with warpage through stress relief. I would use no wider thasn a 1/2" blade and if you have two of them and a local sharpening service you'll be set for the project.
