Years ago I saw a How-to-turn-it article which showed how to turn a toy top which made a whistling sound when it was spun. I remember it involved drilling or cutting horizontal holes or grooves around the top’s perimeter. Since Christmas is coming soon, I would like to try it. Can anyone describe how this might be done? I have searched on line with no success.
Thanks much, Gary

Gary,
I have never heard of or seen such a top, but it brings to mind blowing over an empty bottle.

Gary. I remember (born in 1942) a series of hollow tin tops that made a nice harmonic multi-note sound but no wooden ones. I will ask the rabid turners in my WW club as most are very accomplished. Paddy
Thanks, Paddy, I will appreciate any info. Gary
