Am searching for opinions on miter gauges. Have tried a few of makes over the years and seem to find a shortcoming to each of them. Does anyone have a suggestion or recommendation. Tried to search archives but without any luck.
thanks

It's hard to go wrong with most of the Incras or a Woodhaven IMO. What price point are you looking at?
Price point is important info. They can range from $89 to around $300, IIRC.
What search string did you use for the archives? There are dozens of threads about the aftermarket gauges. Did you use Advanced Search? or that silly link at the bottom of the main page? <g>

I've got a JDS Accu-Miter on the TS and it's decent but not what I would call stellar. I just got a Incra V27 to use on the BS. It's basically just the head without any extensions which would just get in the way for BS use. I'm pretty impressed with the quality and accuracy of the Incra unit and would certainly give their bigger units a hard look.
If you build it he will come.
MisterP: I've been using the Woodhaven for a couple years now, it is solidly made and accurite, IMHO. Also it was not as expensive as the other top gauges, if memory serves. Duke

I also have the woodhaven and it has worked pretty well. I do always check it for square after I have ajusted it for other angles.

Thanks to all who replied regarding the miter gauge choices. With Christmas looming I've had to backburner the purchase but will buy after the first. Probably the Kreg.I failed to list a small complaint of the Accu-fence which I've used for the past 5 yrs. or so. It's extremely tail heavy and any accidental fall results in it landing on the pull pin lock. Had to replace it once. My clumsiness. Anyway thanks again
I just bought the Kreg but have not used it as my shop is not heated at the moment. It is well built and I like the flip stop. Also, if you are going to do a lot of miters or picture frames get the miter stop. It is an ingenious design that will fully support the end that has already been mitered.
Life is what happens to you when you're making other plans .
I have the Kreg and realy like it. Right on every time. I never had to reset it in two years.
