I am looking for this vanity online, but I have been unsuccessful in my attempts. Any suggestions on where I might find it online. If not, does anyone know a furniture maker in the Boston area?

Where did you get that photo? Did you find that piece in some high end furniture store in your area and are looking to have it made at less cost? What is it made of? or mor accurately what do you want it to be made of?

Britt,
My first thought is that you could buy the vanity cheaper in the store or catalog where you saw it than to have one custom built. Chances are the pricing for the piece is based on cheap labor in China or Vietnam as well as mass-producing the item.
I'm building a lot of furniture for our home and I know I could save money by just going to the store and finding something suitable. But, we want our own 'tweaks' on things and more solid construction; solid wood rather than a lot of veneer. For instance, I can buy a very nice bed/headboard for $3,000 to $4,000; the one I built for our room will cost you $14,000 if you want one -- that's what custom furniture is worth.
Good luck!

Oh, Oh Oh, I know...
Now this is really weird. I looked at you photo and thought to myself "hey, this looks like a photograph that would be in the Pottery Barn". I did a search of their website and there it was.

That is too funny! I thought the same thing when I saw the picture, but never actually checked the Pottery Barn. Instead I spent a bunch of time looking at different furniture sites with no luck.
I got the picture from a potential client. (I'm a carpenter/builder not a furniture maker). I was going to recommend a site or a furniture maker to her. I should have asked her where SHE got the picture from in the first place. Seems she was looking for a better deal....
Is it me or does that peice look chunky to you? Turned legs or better tapers would improve it as would draws that arent flush.Wicked Decent Woodworks

Now, the question comes back to you. Are you going to buld it for them for $599 plus $75 shipping cost. I'll bet dollars to donouts, that they want it for less and/or "the exact same design but with these changes." "And, while your at it, how about it stained to match our dresser. As long as it close" (meaning an exact match or you don't get paid) What do you think the cost of the mirror is?
Can you tell that I have been there before?
It sure explains the name!!!
Actually the name is really for the severe headaches I get along with the double cervcal spine fusion.
Maybe I should change it to "PIA" since I have lumbar disk problems too?

Good grief, migraine!
Maybe it would be easier to tell us what DOES work! Er, ah -- without being too graphic!!!

Been there and done that...middle-class clients looking to save a few dollars. When I get these type of calls and I can detect what they are looking for I always say "estimates are $50, non-refundable". If they never call back I know I have saved a lot of time, if they do call back then I drop the $50 charge and we do business.
The calls that really p**s me off are the ones who call and talk and talk then it turns out that all they really want to know is where I buy my lumber so they can do it themselves. So I tell them, "I buy it at the lumber yard, of course!" I am so bad.
yes, they will want this piece that we custom make from a picture for less than $599 +s/h and if you look closely at the ad it says it has "a hardwood frame ". Poplar is a hard wood....so what are you getting for $599? 10% "hardwood 90% particle board with pretty overlay that looks like ....cherry??Wicked Decent Woodworks

I would bet it is made out of one of those weird exotic woods that I am unable to identify. Seems like everything I see from foreign countries is made out of that same ugly wood toned to look like whatever.
The wood we generally see in the "furniture" found at Walmart and out purveyors of fine oriental wood stuff is called rubber wood........from what I was told. Must grow like dandy lions over there. Seems to have about the same resiliancy.
However this place has some fine stuff for a good price. http://www.oldworldmerchants.com I have bought 5 pieces from them; a desk, sleigh bed and 3 tables The build quality is pretty good. I bought the partners desk and had to realign most of the drawer pulls but other than that i have been satisfied.Wicked Decent Woodworks

Well that squares with what I heard, some call it the Spanish word for "Ball" and claim it is from overgrown rubber trees from old rubber plantations. Wonder if that is the same thing?
I think I found it! Sorry for the delay but I just knew I saw it someplace and took awhile to find.
