I am building a spinning wheel and am trying to figure out the best way to join the 4 boards from which I will rout out the wheel using a circle cutting jig. The 4 “felloes” will be attached end grain to end grain. The prototype I am using has them attached using a routered finger joint. I was wondering if a bridle joint, lap joint, or simply biscuits would be just as strong for this purpose.
Thanks, Kevin

Kevin,
I would use a pinned splined miter joint myself. All the angled miter cuts will match as will your grooving set up to cut grooves for the splines. Make sure you run the splines for the best strength, with the grain of your felloes. These can be another wood as well for looks. Then I'd run some dowel pins into the splines and then make your circle cuts. Good luck. Gary
