I want to finish my solid wood cabinet doors and the doors that you see in a show room have a solid color finish on them. If you do a search in a cabinet manufacture the call it a solid stain but is it a stain or a paint finish. WaltzCraft has a finish on there doors that I like and they call it stain but list it as paint grade. If it is a stain and not a paint where can you buy it. Is the finish just paint with glaze added to it.

I would like this color. Can anyone assist me on how to achieve it.
That finish looks like a solid color. My preference is lacquer which can be tinted in the color of your choice. Take a sample or picture of the color you want to a finishing supplier and they can match it for you.
In terms of your other questions, manufacturers use the term stain for many different finishes. Typically, stain is made with a pigmented additive that is opaque. If you apply enough of it, you will not be able to see through it. Dye on the other hand will not cover up the grain and therefore is preferred by some finishers. Both products are used to color the wood in a finishing process. I finishing schedule can involve many steps or just a few depending on the desired outcome. Hope this helps.

Thanks, on a custom home I worked on the kitchen cabinets had a solid color on them. They had a small of can of the color that came with the cabinets. The can had what looked like a stain but when you applied it went on solid in one application. I am wondering if it is a special mixture that the cabinet maufacture has?
It might be but it can be duplicated at any good finishing supplier using a small wand on a sample of the color. Many furniture manufacturers use automated finishing equipment. They typically seal the wood then tone on color followed by additional top coats. They buy the finishing materials just like we do but I believe we can actually produce better finishes because we can put in the time they can not.
Here is a link to some of my finsihing schedules. You may have to copy it and paste it into your browser.
