In all the posts and comments to Asa on what he should do to bring FWW back to the promised land, I noticed several reference to ‘Knot heads’. Well, please define ‘Knot head’… I have my own definition derived from years working for the Boy Scouts — in was a long standing volunteer that was in the business of collection ‘knots’ ( little patches the went over the left shirt pocket in rows of three). The more ‘knots’ the louder the comments and sense of ownership on the part of the individual. So, What is a ‘knot head’ here?

When I was in high school (too many decades ago) a knucklehead was not a complimentary term -- although it was not considered fighting words.
A knothead here, is simply someone who is on Knots Forum.

Hi Dan ,
The term Knothead is an affectionate one that describes you and me and any others that may frequent this forum , that's all .
Some like you and myself may be considered double knotheads with the batch from our Scouting time in included .
dusty , the volunteer , only one hour a week , right !
There was a joke that went around -- when the rows of knots hits the shoulder seem, you were officially a 'knothead' and useless for anything else.Dan Carroll
As the others have said, a knothead is just someone who posts here on the forum. Just like a "creeker" is someone who participates over at the Sawmill Creek forum.

Are you guys sure of that?
I thought it was the very center of a knot!
Glad they don't call this The Block. We'd all be Blockheads! I for one could very well be one o them too.

good morning Bob ,
You know they do call those knothead carvings that seem to look mostly like old men .
Sitting around the camp fire on a few campouts I took out my sharp pocket knife and tried carving , whittling and a or shaping one of those , and for the life of me I could not make hardly a dent in the piece . I tried it several days in a row , with no results .I figured my knife was just not sharp enough for that .
A few months ago at a local craft sale thing I saw a gentleman selling the old man knot heads and stopped to admire and asked him what he used to carve such hard woods.
He said oh , we use dremel tools and such we never use a pocket knife .
go figure
dusty , a knot head but knot a knothead
Dusty,
That's a good one!
I wonder if anyone has seen a whole knot?
