Confirmat screws are what I have used in the past for melamine and particleboard. They seem to hold well and are the simplest to use with very minimal tooling. Can't beat a drill and bit for fast assembly.
I have no experience with Hafele.

Jim , I like the " Fastap " brand , they have a good coarse thread and self tapping tip with nibs under the head for self countersinking .They seem to work as well as any if not better .

for particle board, confirmat is the way to go. Regular threaded screws can rip out too easily.
