I am just curious if anyone has ever tried to make thier own bandsaw blades using blade coil stock.
If so did you use the silver solder or did you actually weld the joint.

I've not done it myself, but from what I've read and others have told me you should go with the silver solder.

I don't even own a bandsaw, but.....
The Lee Valley catalog has a "bandsaw blade splicing kit" for $32 which includes a jig and a supply of silver solder and flux. It says, "Using this kit you can repair the blades with a splice at least as strong as the original weld". It's in the section under "Power Tool Accessories". It looks like the jig would be a necessity for smooth, well aligned splices.
