Hello folks, I’ve been woodworking on and off for about 35 years. I was serious for a long time then I discovered golf and got sidetracked. My wife has been after me to get back to it and get some long overdue projects completed. I am going to try to post my fireplace surround that I just completed in Honduras mahogany. I used solid wood since I have a large supply of it left over from doors I made for my house several years back. I made it simple and coated it with oil/varnish/wax finish. The trim molding was made from my raised panel cutter and the cove molding was made on the table saw. I used my new domino joiner to assemble the face and leg boards then attached the return boards with my biscuit joiner. I screwed some strips of popular to the wall then glued and nailed the sub-assembly to the strips. My wife changed her mind on the height after this step so I built a spacer out of popular and screwed this to the wall and to the masonry top. I then used L clips to attach the top to the base assembly and attached the cove molding with glue and my 23 gauge pinner.

Jacko,
Nice job. It's great having a good suppy of solid wood, isn't it. How's the Domino?

Chris, the Domino is great and since I purchased the vacuum system, it makes slots without the hint of dust.I purchased this tool after selling my Inca Table saw with a morticing attachment which was a big mistake. I don't miss the saw since my Powermatic 66 is super but, I do miss that morticing attachment.Time will tell if the Domino turns out to be an adequate replacement but, so far it's great.
