Hi Peter,
I realy enjoyed your article”All about wax”. I have been using alot of water based poly and lacquer topcoats, and read somewhere previously that tolulene can damage the topcoat. Is this a concern? Second question-Where did you get liming wax ? Is there a giant finishing store in CT that I don’t know about? Third question- I have always used Zinsser Clear Coat as a sealer because it says ‘DEWAXED’ right on the can, is Zinsser clear shellac also dewaxed? Thank you for your time- Knecht

Knecht,
Thanks on the article.
Toluene , which is also a component of lacquer thinner can have an adverse effect on a freshly lacquered surface. It's best to let them, or any coatings, cure well before waxing them. Briwax does make a toluene free wax as i understand it. I know in the article it suggested otherwise.
The liming wax can be found through catalogues. Try Homestead Finishing . You can easily make your own simply by adding some dry white pigment or artist oil color to clear wax.
Zinseer SealCoat is their de-waxed product. Clear and amber both contain wax.
Regards,
Peter
