Question: How does one removerepair a table top that has a ring stain from a water glass.? Any hints, short of sanding down the whole thing, the surface is a veneer.
Thanks in advance for any help here. Good woodworking to all, when you aren’t fishing.

The fix depends on what kind of equipment you have and how bad the damage is. If you don't have access to spray equipment, try wiping it with a rag dipped in alcohol. Not too much, though. Test a small area first. That should fix a minor ring. Rubbing it out with steel wool is another fix that some folks use.
I've never used either fix personally. But, that's because I have spray equipment and my own preferred way of dealing with white water rings. I blend MEK and PM Acetate about 90/10 and lightly mist the ring with it. I do have a finishing book with both of the above listed non-spray fixes listed in it. So, either should work. I'd try the alcohol first, though.

Kevin has given you good advice, Mac. If it's only a white ring (and not black, which is what happens when the water gets underneath the finish to the wood, yuck!) you have a good chance of it coming out with some alcohol treatment. I would apply a little, let it evaporate, go back the next day and see if it has faded, do it again.
Sometimes those rings will simply evaporate over time without any help. It's important not to put any wax or polish on it, because that would do more to seal in the moisture. You could even try a gentle and judicious application of heat (low setting, hair dryer, don't melt the finish!).
forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I saw a demonstration years ago on removing a ring stain.
The ring stain was lightly covered with alcohol ( methylated spirit ).
This was then ignited with a match! No joke, it did work, but then the
demonstrator was an expert of many years .
You may have to apply the treatment a few times to lose the ring
completely, pausing a few minutes before trying again.
If you are brave enough , give it "a go" Best of luck.
