In issue #187 of FWW, there was a comparison of different water based finishes. Some resistance test were done with food and heat but none against common household cleaner.
I did experiment with the General Finish one which rated best overall and found out that pretty much every cleaner I am commonly using ruin the finish instantly (no need to wait, just spray something wipe it off and the finish is stained). I tried chlorox, and several dishwasher soap.
Has anybody noticed similar problem with the General Finish finish?
Is there any water based finish out there that do resist to common household cleaner?
Thanks in advance,
Emmanuel

How long did you wait for the finish to cure? Most any finish is going to be susceptible to chemical damage for at least a few weeks.

I did wait for 9-10 days. How long should I wait until I do another test?
I'm not familiar with that particular finish, but I'd wait at least a month.

Thanks Steve,
Any other Brand I should experiment in parallel?

I'm not really the person to ask--my experience with water-based finishes is limited to only a couple of different polyurethane varnishes.

I haven't noticed any problem with GF WB Polycrylic.
