could someone suggest an arts and crafts finish for QS oak frame…..water based and as simple as possible……I know it wouldn’t be authentic but it’s what I need at the moment…thanks

Try to read thread 22470.14..and subsequent discussion, It was very helpful to me. Just in case, it calls for transtint dye(I used red brown), sealed with washcoat of shellac, a gel stain(dark brown) and finally several coats of wipe on satin poly(minwax)..
