Be vewy, vewy quiet…I’m making a wabbet. I’m working on the tool cabinet from a recent FWW (http://www.taunton.com/finewoodworking/FWNPDF/011188040.pdf). The front and back panels are let in to the frame by a rabbet. The article calls for making the rabbet using a router. While I don’t have a problem with that, (I’d get to buy a rabbet bit)I’m wondering if it would just be easier to use a dado blade on the table saw. The frame is put together with finger joints, so a small hole would be visible on the box ends. Thoughts? Thanks. Tom

Say silly wabbit, twat's a wabbetting bit?
I would not cut through rabbits regardless of how I created them. It will be unsightly and a reminder that details are not important.
Routing would be easier. The bit would be inexpensive. But if you choose to go with a dado blade, mark it for a stop in the appropriate place and finish it with a chisel or rebate plane.
