I don't know what you mean by "more adaptable for refit" but I have been very happy with my Jorgensen 4 x 10. I face the jaws with 'magnetic rubber' pads, about 1/4' thick. These are covered with felt from the Sewing Shops.
I installed this on an existing bench and have had no trouble with 10 years of hard use.
In your photo it shows you at your bench at a vise/clamp, is this the one you're refering to ?Do you know the model no.? thanks rob

It's unlikely, Rob, that the dimensions of your bench would preclude the use of any of the commonly-available woodworking vices. Unless you made the top out of face-laminated 2x12s, that is. ;-)
Metal-faced vices like the Jorgensen are usually mounted with the top of the jaw flush with the surface, which may require a spacer block between the bottom surface of the bench top and the mounting plate. You might, however, want to notch the edge of the bench, so the fixed jaw is flush with the rest of the bench-top edge.
Old-style front vices are similarly flexible, installation-wise, since they assume a block of hardwood will be installed as the jaw, tightening against a skirt of some sort mounted to the edge of the bench.
