Got a pile of old carbide tipped saw blades; circular, Ts and Miter from 6″ to 12″. There’s got to be some good use for them.
Thanks.

Step one -- use a torch to unweld the carbide tips. Save them and find a scrap buyer. Carbide is VERY expensive.
Step two -- shine them up real good, and put them on your christmas tree -- that's about all they're good for once you scrap the carbide.
I see no reason why you couldn't use them for scratch stock blades. Harry
Harry,
Would the steel in the blade be hard enough for a scratch ? I've always used hack saw blades which are probably much harder than the steel in a circular saw blade. You don't stop laughing because you grow old. You grow old because you stop laughing. - Michael Pritchard<!----><!----><!---->

I would think so and may need tempering. Harry
Aha! Especially the old steel blades without carbide tips, as I'd expect the steel to be of higher quality that tipped blades.Chris @ http://www.flairwoodwork.spaces.live.com(soon to be http://www.flairwoodworks.com)

H,
The sharpest bench knife I have ever used was cut from an old 10" blade. An old geezer in our shop made it and kept it honed with a piece of oilstone he stored away in an old rag. I might have to make one of those just for old time's sake.

Jerry,Excellent idea! I have a whole stack of steel circular saw blades sitting around and am currently using jigsaw blades to make knives.Chris @ http://www.flairwoodwork.spaces.live.com(soon to be http://www.flairwoodworks.com)

Give to the trick-or-treaters. They can't eat them.
Grind off the teeth and use the remaining plate as a sanding disk for your table-saw.

I've seen a lot of them in flea markets with pictures painted on them. How are your art skills :-)
I have trouble drawing stick figures. Mechanical drawing I can do, but I can't think of anything any body would buy.
You might contact a local painter's group to see if they are interested in buying the "blanks".
They really make great scrapers.
