Has anyone used the Unilift from Woodpecker in their router table with a plunge router? I am thinking of purchasing it and a Hitachi M12V for my new router table. Is it a pain to change bits above the table with the bent wrench or collet extension… or is it better to purchase the precision lift and buy a fixed base router? The price difference between the Unilift/Hitachi combo and the Precision Lift/Porter Cable 7518 combo is about $200.00 US.

I have several router tables... One with a lift (on my TS).. I like the lift BUT I still just pull it out to change bits.. No big deal..
Besides I get to clean out the sawdust stuck in strange place and can look the tool over for problems.. Least of you worries changing bits!
Yes - I have a Unilift under s shop-made table with a big soft-start variable-speed Makita hanging underneath. The big Mak has a metal shield (supplied) which prevents sawdust building up.
Easy to change cutters, nice smooth adjustment ... excellent setup!

Do you use a collet extension with your Makita? Also, do you have to access under the table to depress a lock button to loosen the collet?

I bouight an extension, but have never used it.
I've had various shop-made router table set-ups over the years, and once a proper shaper (a nice Italian machine), and this is by far the most convenient for the work I do. Bit/cutter changing is quick, easy, precise and convenient.

The Hitachi has its own depth adjustment knob that serves the purpose of a "router lift". You don't need anything more except a good mounting plate like the Rousseau.
I'm with Will George. I have a M12 attached to a plate and when I want to change bits all I do is lift it out and change the bit and put it back in the wing on my table saw. Probably takes less time than a lift. I have considered getting a lift, but this is so easy I have decided that a lift would be a waste of money.
I do like my lift to 'sneak up' on a fit.. Router adjustment not as good as the lift....NO I do not plan to get all my tables a 'lift'...
If you still want the Unilift, I received a sale E-mail today. It's $30.00 off, or $119.00
The coupon code is PL30. Don't know if it helps, just passing it along.
