I’m stripping some Doug Fir which was originally (100 yrs ago)finished with shellac then at some point painted. I heat gunned it then dipped it for 12 hours in citrus based stripper and removed the gummy residue with alcohol. I’ve done this before with excellent results.
This time, after sitting in my (unheated) shop for a couple of days I’ve noticed some of the pieces are developing a rash of black spots which looks like mold. They seem more numerous on the end grain. Anybody ever seen anything like this before? What is it and more importantly how do I prevent it from happening and get rid of it?
Awaiting your advice and opinions.

*Thanks for your resonse. Yes it's cool and humid in the Pacific NW this time of year. I suspect that may have had something to do with it if this is some kind of mold/mildew. I tried some clorox, which got rid of most of the black ugly, but also bleached out the patina of the wood. I'll try to build back some color with stain & hope for the best. again thanks.Jim
