Twas the Knot before Christmas, when all through the shop
The LNs were all sharpened right next to the strop
Lataxe proposes we stay away from some things
He frowns on frou frou and other fine blings.
The Marcous were nestled and sharpened in bed,
While visions of them planes dance in Rays head.
Mels mamma in her ‘kerchief, and Mel in his cap,
Is chipping away before taking his nap.
My planes exhibit such an annoying chatter,
Then Derek springs forward to resolve the matter.
Adam claims he can do it in a jollt quick flash,
Narry a power tool to straighten that sash.
Whilst danmart and Samson pray for fresh snow
EddieFromAustralia works his planes down below.
Long before forestgirl, and Sarge appear,
Why it’s jolly WillGeorge, and his eight tiny reindeer.
With a little screwdriver, and a sharp drill bit,
I’ll get it together or leave it for scrit.
In search of good bargains you’ll find mvflaim,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
“Now Volton! now, Mufti! now, Hastings, Metod!
On, Frosty! On, highfigh!, on planesaw and Blitzen!
From the vise on the workbench! to the top of the wall!
Now plane away! Scrape away! Sand away all!”

What fun, and great writing Bob.
Now, you ought to offer it laser etched in a nice 4/4 x 18 x 24" QS sycamore plank, chosen to look like wind-blown snow. I'll bet you could sell at least a dozen of them for a couple of hundred bucks each. ho ho ho.
Very Merry, K
Thanks.
Now if any of you folks would like to add a verse or three, please by all means chime in here.
From Kidderville Acres here's wishing you all a joyous holiday.

What fun decorations, Bob. I hope your insurance agent doesn't see that two-candle-powered Christmas pyramid, though. ;-)
Ralph,
We started collecting the Hallmark series of tree ornaments since the early 80s. Got 49 altogether as we get several most years.

Bob,
Well: that first pic is one of Azmo trying out a roadbike. He may be in a triathlon, even, although I don't know what they swim in down Arizona way. Do they have any water at all there? I thought the Las Vegans had bought it all to squirt out of fancy fountains?
Or it might be Roc doing a quick trip to NZ on his new frame, to see about a Marcou plane. It will only take him the weekend.
That second pic is Madison trying to attract Mel's attention in the store there, so she can get some discounted LNs. Mel is too busy trying out the latest LN handsaw with teeth varying from 98tpi to 2 tpi. It was recommended to him by Rob Cosman and is a mere $589.00. It is essential for making bowl-blanks with the correct starting texture.
That third pic shows Mr Marcou, ready to post my planes after Christmas (we cannot have them go astray in the Christmas postal mayhem). Notice his fine green tan, which is what happens when the only sun he gets is filtered through the dusty shed window and bounced off various Wadkins.
That last pic is one of Ray Pine's Strange Dream. I have told him not to drink so much of that white lightning he keeps in a spalted wood cask.

Ho ho ho ho....
You think I should dispatch on Monday 29 December? I think so, or maybe Tuesday 30th? Actually on further thought, it may be better to wait until at least January 14th which is my birthday, the new year and by which time the effects of the holiday season will have diminished . Then again, possibly one should wait until I have made a couple of J15A's so that all could go in one aircraft....
Just in passing- the attached picture did catch my eye and I submit it in lieu of any additions to Bob's poem, since I am no poet.Philip Marcou
philip,
Well I certainly can't top your picture of Mr. Froe; thank Gawd you din't expose him!
I don't think Santa will have any trouble landin on me roof this year.

Philip,
Well, that is one way of tapping out the threads in a bottom bracket!
Lataxe, poetry in motion.
That may be true, but how about the left hand threads on the other side?
Merry Christmas everyone!
Mike
Mike,
The left-hand tapping:
There would be a need for two Davids standing face-to-face, a configuration that would have pleased Leonardo who was "left-handed" hisself, by all accounts. Spin that Colnago and it would be duly tapped. Of course, it would need to be mounted the correct way 'round atween the Davids, as we do not want the chainset falling off as the BB axle unscrews itself during vigorous pedal-thrusts. One could not then win the sprint.
Personally, I would just send that Colnago to New Zealand where a certain engineering-minded lad would apply proper tools for the job. The tool being applied by the David seems unlikely to have the required hardness for thread-tapping. Still, we must allow the Italian his romanticism when constructing machines, otherwise there would only Fords and no Maseratis.
Merry Christmas Eve to All
Lataxe
Bob,
What a wonderful treat!
Many blessings during this season of Goodness.
Metod
From one Bob to another: Bravo!! My question is, how many "end of shop day unwinders" had you had before composing this?
Bob,
You've outdone yourself. Poetry is one thing, but good doggerel is unsurpassable.
Best wishes for a Merry Christmas,
Ray
You miust have had all your Christmas projects done early this year!
I'm often reminded this time of year that the One whose birthday we celebrate was the son of a carpenter and probably learned the trade as he was growing up. Having been a Coast Guardsman, I'm also glad to know that He had a soft spot for sailors.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good knot!

Bob,
That is classic.....Imagine if you had a laser engraver....veneer Christmas cards....Philip Marcou
P.S- I read further on and see that Keith thought along the same lines...I am too slow these days and I think it is because I recently went from a bike to a Bike (which has electric start and five gears).

You have a talented wit, my friend! That was just great. It brought a smile to my face.
Merry Christmas, and stay warm.
Jeff
PS I asked my wife for a Marcou for Xmas, but I haven't seen anything under the tree that looks like it came from Kiwiville.
Bob,
Great writing.
During the holidays, may we all know peace that passes understanding,
and in the new year may we all find uncommon wisdom.
Merry Christmas,
Alan - planesaw
