Posted my first message for help finding sources for butcher block top. I got a lot of great help. Now I’m looking for a source for white oak turning squares. I need 5 -10/4 square x 36″. I had a local source but they are out and won’t be sawing any white oak for a while. Kiln operators around here don’t like to dry it thick as it is troublesome with end checking. Finding it thicker than 8/4 is difficult. Any sources would be appreciated.
Thanks

I've had great success jointing and gluing 2 4/4's together with titebond and turning them as 8/4.
Rick,
Don't know where your located, but, around here people go to Highland Hardwoods in New Hampshire or Norm's favorite place in Arlington, MA. Anderson-McQuade's. McQuades has the bigger selection, Highland the price.
Recently I bought some 6/4 both in white oak and Ash, cleaned em up and glued for 10/4 turnings...they looked great before I touched them....lol
You might try Groff & Groff, of Quarryville, Pa. They ship, and are excellent for all types of domestic and some imported hardwoods. I just bought some 12' planks of 5/4 cherry, 24 - 28" wide. I have seen 40" wide mahogany there. Very decent people to deal with. Wonderful quilted maple. Their number is (800) 342-0001.
