I’ve been having all sorts of trouble with the index. Some info not listed, some given all wrong, etc. Anyone have similar experience?

I've found it useless. I just dig through all my copies when I'm looking for something.
I think people are expecting too much of the web. It will take a long time to list all the articles in FWW not to mention how each person perceives of what the topic of the article should be called compounded with the fact that the person who is inputting the data probably really isn't a woodworker. A few years ago you were lucky to get 15% of what you were doing a search for on the web. It's probably much less now.
We're talking about the online index to the magazine on this site. It doesn't work. I did a couple of author searches for some articles that I remembered reading, but did not recall the issue. Both searches did not produce a hit, while thumbing through my sawdust laden stack of old issues did.
Author searches ought to work flawlessly. I can understand keyword searches not producing a hit.

A few weeks ago I posted an Excel file that indexed all FWW from the beginning to about 1996-97. Maybe you can find it; I find the search feature for postings impossible to use.
I'll look for it and I appreciate the effort you've made to provide it. Taunton ought to send you a check.
I didn't create the index. The index came from the old Badger Pond site. If you can't find it I could post it again; it's about 400KB in size.

Here it is; I downloaded a cc.
Just noticed this thread and had a quick look at Fine Woodworking's online index, which seems to be updated through issue #160. Ruth DobsevageTaunton New Media
I think the answer for me will be to cut out all the indexes from the Feb. issues and put them in a folder. When I get time that is, right after the honeydo list.
