thinking about buying the triton 2 1/4hp router, but haven’t seen much comparison to brands such as bosch, pc, dewalt, etc. can anyone tell me how the triton would stand up to these name brand routers?

I'de have to say the Jury is still out on the Tritons longevity. Relatively speaking it's new to the market. But their Engineers sure put some thought into that little "Beast". The features are great, spindle lock with above base bit change, Very smooth plunge action with no play(much better than a PC), Variable speed, Safety cut out of l / O switch while changing bits, but I would still unplug. Comes with edge guide and guide bushings. Though I would have preferred PC style guide bushings. There is a slight learning curve with the plunge freefloat and depth "Crank" But a real nice feature when you get used to it. It will be my next bench router when Nickels permit.
Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

Some years back, review points considered the bits that mattered, like quality and size of ball races, play or lack of in plunge and so on. Elu were good. Now I try not to follow brand names but handle and haggle before making any choice. I have handled the Triton and it felt good and the price was right at the negotiated reduction. Would have bought if my wife had not reminded me that I have seven routers, (not all bought new).
Well I like routers.
G'day,
You might ask Derek (he lives where these things were designed) but they have been around on the Australian Market for a few years now. They are well regarded. The Company has been around for years and has seems to have an expanding business. They were originally built to supplement the Triton work centre - http://www.triton.com.au/product.php?id=1
This is great story - we have a free to air TV show called the inventors where backyard people get to show off on national television. This bloke appeared one day and had orders exceeding his production capacity before he got home. You might argue that the more recent Festool table looks remakably similar in concept.
Don't think I would Buy one unless I was building a holiday shack; but they are the mainstay of many a home workshop in Australia.
