I’m about to put down some 3/4″ x 3 1/4″ pre-finished flooring in the living room. It’s a rectangular room with a masonry fireplace centered on one wall. I was planning on trimming around the hearth with either flooring or with some closely matching lumber and staining/finishing to more-or-less match the flooring. The trim, I figured, would be mitered on the hearth corners. I’d have no trouble with this if the floor was to be sanded and finished but I don’t know how to handle the chamfers on the flooring to make it all look right. This must be a common problem with all the prefinished material available these days. Would you boys with some experience in this area mind sharing some ideas? Thanks

When I need a pre finished floor piece that has a cut, be it miter or whatever, to look "factory" I sand a bevel on it then use a matching stain pen and a little lacquer or not depending on the location. Exactly the same process for flush mount heat registers etc.
Hope that helps.
Thanks #9, sounds like the way it'd have to be. Thanks for taking the time.
