I’m planning a QSWO table for general use in the kitchen. The table will have a General Gel Stain on it. I have read that the General Gel Urethane topcoat leaves a rather dull finish…would the GeneralArm R Seal be a better choice? Any other ideas?
Thanks,

You can use any varnish over the gel stain once it has cured. The General ArmRSeal is a wiping consistency polyurethane varnish. Other good choices would include Waterlox (in Satin, Original/Sealer (semi-gloss), and Gloss) The Original/Sealer comes at wiping consistency, but you would have to add a little thinner for Satin to be at it's best for wiping, and a little more than that for the Gloss to be at ideal wiping consistency. You could also use Behlen Rockhard, thinned with about equal parts thinner as a wiping varnish, thinned about 10% for brushing, or for a light colored varnish Pratt & Lambert 38 is excellent, either brushed on with a little thinning, or thinned with nearly equal amounts of thinner for wipe on application.
