YCF Dino,
I’ve already expressed interest in your guide system and table. I’ve also expressed questions about the appropriateness of your promoting your product here, you call it “pimping,” curious term . . . So if I ask the questions, I guess it is “legit” for you to praise your stuff to the heavens.
Any way, I realize that I have been totally ignorant of this method of work. It’s merits appear compelling. Looking around, I’ve now become aware of the Festool guide system and table as well as their line of saws, routers, etc. I assume that’s the high end of the market. I really like the European attention to detail (I always have).
Would you mind discussing your rail system compared to theirs, other than the obvious huge difference in price.
Also, do you have a recommendation regarding a circular saw to use with with your system? Since I don’t have one, I’ll be starting from scratch, and I may as well get one that performs to the likes of the designer of the rail sysrem I’m going to buy!

There is a thread currently going on over at BT regarding one of the problems with the Smart system.
53313.1
I hesitate calling it a problem but Kevin(originator of the thread) has a situation to deal with.
There are several people that have posted on the thread that own the smart system so you can get some first hand info regarding it.
It is certainly worth a look, but just as is the case over here, there is some BS to wade through.

Doug,Thanks. I have high boots for wading.Rich
Hi Rich.
Any way, I realize that I have been totally ignorant of this method of work. It's merits appear compelling.
I call this method.... The Dead Wood Concept. There is two ways to cut and shape wood. One is to push the wood into a spinning blade and knifes and the other is moving your tool into a track while the wood is secured "dead"
We know very well that the first "moving the wood" method is not safe, accurate or EZ. Requires more space, expensive machines, trained operators and luck.
You can have all the right tools and the right wood and the right space and still lose few fingers because...a bee lands in your face while you're cutting. Every day we have at list few hundred woodworking mishaps. 5B a year for hospital bills. High insurance and lives destroyed.
Then we have this marketing genius to tell us that their lasers don't do the cutting ...yet. I hope they don't. Because if their lasers work like their RAS ,Tablesaws and jointers ...it will bo no woodworker left that can count all of his digits.
Oh yes.and we have all the experts-celebrities on the popular TV shows to assist you if you have any doubts ...how to cut your hands.
Now,are you ready for the "dead wood concept" ??? I need a brake too. And see how the tablesaw mentality is going to react before we even start talking about it. And after they do, I will tell you why nobody show up for over a year now to take the challenge.

Dino,Yeah, yeah. You got my attention. You did that many messages ago. I buy the concept, man!Do you have a recommendation for a particular circular saw to use with your system? It seems the Porter Cable has the least problems with the guard swinging away for a plunge cut. Yes? No?Can you give us some comparison of your system vs the Festool guide and their table other than the big price difference? There is no question that everyone in the Home Building Forum who has bought your products has nothing but praise.Rich
Can you give us some comparison of your system vs...all other European systems????...Yes.
You know that Hilti just introduce their guide system and circular saw in US? And in EU ALL power tool Companies have guide rail systems?
Ok Rich.
I think I can explain the features and the benefits of the EZ.
First we have a place to cut. The smart table top kit. Portable-extendable -simple and affordable.
Then we have the Ez guide rails with few "patented' First time design features.
1. Bidirectional with (true zero) positioning cutting line.
2. Antichip with or without the guide rail and on both sides of the blade.(zero)
3. Self align extendable with 3 self align dove tail connectors. (True zero play).
4. Clamps that can secure 1" narrow strips and clamping system down to Zero.
And Universal design. You can use any right or left blade blade saw. (only right for now) and any router ever made. You can stop at any place pick up any blade and cut BETTER than $100.00 blade. We redesign this THING 25 times in order for all components to work perfect.
Now, do other EU systems have the above features? No. they don't.
Do they have any other benefits that we don't? Yes they do. But not on their guide rails or the saw base. They do have better saws to work with their guides.
If you like to have the ultimate Ez Smart System, you can use any of this saws. The EZ is Universal. And can improve the performance of any saw or router.
Now, what is the best saw that you can use with and without the Ez?
I will go with the Porter Cable MAG 325. With dust port and electric brake.$149.00 And for 8-1/4 saw (if you need it) The Dewalt with electric brake. If you use a saw with electric brake you just can't use one without.
I like the Bosch circular saw too, but I don't know if they offer electric brake. And don't take out of the list the Makitas.
Good luck and thanks for just talking and thinking of another way.

Dino,Thanks a lot.Rich
Thank you Rich.
And thanks the Forum for allow me to talk about ...the Dead wood concept.

Ok I've got a sliding table panel saw but I'm not going to argue with you because there is place for the right tool in the right place. What got me interested was the portablilty - I'm not going to lug my 2500lb saw on to too many sites & even the sheppach we generally use on site is a pain to load/unload.
A couple of questions - thru all the posts talk is about 71/4" & 81/4" saws. Can a 9 1/4" (Eg) Makita be used or is just easier to use a lighter saw?
Can 3 be fitted together to extend the cut to 150" (12'x6' is a common sheet size)?
How much are you charging for the setup?
What is 'the challenge'. Since we took the America's Cup off you guys we love a challenge involving Americans:-)

Now you piss me off. :( Here is the rules for the EZ challenge.
You can use any and all tools ever made in EU VS the EZ Smart. Including computerized over-engineering CNCs and Remote control guide systems.
You ask for it. You can use your sliding panel saw and your sheppach with any blade.
I will use a $15.00 saw blade and any "off the shelf" made in the USA circular saw.
Lets make a clean cross cut on veneer ply from a home center and a compound rip cut on 1" x 1" stock from zero to half. Any length 8' Plus. And one more. Make your own edging 1/64" from 2" board any length until no wood is left.
Better-Faster-Safer and EZier. Just give me 5 minutes to teach someone-anybody how to use the EZ .....because I like to watch this one.

Is much better with a smaller saw but you can use the 9-1/4" if you like.

No problem there.3-4-5
How much are you charging for the setup?
Less that you pay for one sawblade for your 2.500 lb monster.
Your setup 150'' is about $250.00
