I’m building some frameless kitchen cabinets. The doors are all full overlay, and stained darker than the natural color of the birch plywood interior. Do most people also stain the edge banding to match the doors, even if the edge banding isn’t seen when the doors are closed? Or is the edge banding generally left unstained, the same color as the interior ? If stained, is the pre-glued banding stained before or after it has been applied to the case?
Thank You,
Dave

If the edge banding isn't visible with the doors closed, I wouldn't stain them. It will look like you purposely used contrasting woods. If you stain them, it won't look right.
Thanks for your input. It is greatly appreciated.

hey duke,
full over-lay doors with applied edgebanding, right?
i have done this countless times and i have always treated the edge the same as the face and back of the door. i.e. the whole thing gets finished/stained the same.
