Can you even get kiln dried timbers in that size?
In the Northeast large timbers are either cut and fitted green or allowed to air dry for several years, which I believe is the preferred approach.
You might get a lot more information if you ask your question at the Breaktime site at our sister publication Fine Homebuilding.
