This one is called the Fujiwhara chest (I am a public safety public information officer in hurricane country – Google the name and you’ll see why I picked the name!)
Sapele legs, maple chest and door frame and the door panels are veneered in Sapele pomele.
Yes, those are variably spaced dovetails – cut with the Keller Journeyman jig!
I finished it by sanding to 180 grit
coated with a 1# cut of shellac
And two coats of natural Watco – sanding between each coat.
I dunno, I’m pretty happy with it! 😀

"Hope you like!" Yes! Very pretty. Is this for your home???
Tom,
I like the piece but have one question. What is the purpose of the inner divider and why not use the same wood that you used for the legs?

I was having a hard time getting a sufficient supply of sapele for the inside dividers, and the walnut was free...Tom Iovino

Ok, I see, it just jumped out as being misplaced because it did not closely relate to the other wood in the project.
Very nice!! All it needs now is to be tricked out with a Happy Buddha and some incense. ;-)

very very nice, is that an AC unit vented to the outside in the background of the pics? It's a pain trying to do woodworking in the summer here.

Tom,
Haven't heard from you in a while. Nice job on the cabinet. The panels really take the cake. Tell me more about this free walnut!

Maybe I should also tell you about the free maple and free sapele...It's amazing what a dozen donuts and a trip to the shorts table can get you at your local hardwood supplier on a slow Saturday morning.. :DTom Iovino

First: I'll say I have not read any of the other posts..
Second: I have no idea about design. I just 'wing' things I make.
Third: I loved it.
Fourth: The inner stack of shelves. Why so thick? I am NOT saying it is wrong!
In my eye, the group should have been very slender. At least the Verticals. And maybe the shelves about 2/3 thicker than the verticals?
Just me.. No hate here.. I looked and thought ..
Baby Elephant in a birds nest... But like I said... just me... and I am truly not being critical..
Just what I saw. I'm a bit strange. I love Dali' paintings!
A serious question.. Really! Why so bold a statement inside?
EDIT:
I ask because so many in my family can drawpain.. I have a hard time drawing a 'stick man'.. If I get in a pinch I have my oldest granddaughter draw on my roughed out boards to make it look nice! All goes well.. but NOT what I would have done!

OK I can leave it at that.. I am not really being critical of the beautiful work.
REALLY! Just a general question.. On why you liked it that way.. My thoughts do not matter.. We each like our own style.. I hope no offence taken!
I really did like it!
Do I look upset? :-PTom Iovino
