WH,
Not wanting to hijack your question but might I also ask what qualities of metal sheet should one look for in oneself making a thinner copy of an existing riving knife to match a thin kerf blade? My knife is 3.0mm thick for a 3.2mm blade but I'd like to use a 2.8mm blade or even a 2.4mm.

I made one out of the body of a 10" circular saw blade. The steel was very high quality and thin.
Seemed like a good use for an old blade I no longer could use. "There are three kinds of men: The one that learns by reading, the few who learn by observation and the rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves."Will Rogers

At the bottom of Page 8 in this Powermatic document, they specify that thin kerf knife is available and show pics.
Thanks forestgirl.
You're welcome, hope you had a good Fourth!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
It's funny you should ask, there is a story to this 4 of July for me, first i have to regain my composure. I will be back with my story.

"...first i have to regain my composure." Square breathing..........
inhale
hold
exhale
hold
I find triangular breathing to be just as effective and less awkward (eliminate "hold" after "inhale");-)forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I had my eye on the new 10" Griz with the riving knife but, opted to go with the lower priced and no shipping cost TS.
At the risk of think foolishly, I think the blade guards supplied with these saws stand to create more of a safety hazard than to prevent one.
I made a splitter to put in place of the guard mount that would fit my thin kerf blade.
I used a piece of 1" X 1/8" aluminum flat bar; machined one side of the bar on my router table then cut it to the required length and drilled the mounting hole.
It's not a riving knife but, it works fine.
