I was fortunate enough to purchase the LN chisels last fall and sharpen them up to a fine edge. This did not require much time as they were fairly sharp when they arrived. Unfortunately, after using them to clean up a mortise and tenon, I noticed that the edges of the chisels became very jagged and they were not cutting as well.
Has anyone come across this situation before with these chisels.

I got my L-N set about the same time as you and I have not experienced the same problem. Try putting a micro-edge on a chisel and see if that helps.
Also, L-N is now shipping their mortise chisels. These are very nice and make mortise chopping a non-event.

Hello Bill. I am on my second set of LN bevel edged chisels. The first set would roll the edge under hand pressure, and the second set will start to roll after about 12 dovetails. I also own there mortise chisels but I think that they are fantastic. They hold an edge for a very long time. I use the same sharpening stones and the same techniques on both types of chisels and they are actually both sharpened at the same angle, [factory-30*] I put a microbevel on both styles. Don't know what to tell you but I am still thinking that mine are going back. Do a search on this site for chisel quality you should find a discussion about my chisels. I would expect a lot more for the money. Peter
How long do yours take to dull?
Thanks for everyone's comments.
Peter36 - The LN chisels became dull after cleaning up three mortise and tenon joints (two red oak and one cherry). The mortises were cut first on the drill press and the tenons were first cut with a router and a table saw.

These complaints have been floating around the 'net for a while. Looks like quality control slipped on more than a few batches. I'd send the back for a refund and give them time to work out the kinks. In the meantime, Two Cherries and others make perfectly fine chisels that you can count on.
