For a brief moment I thought that I was well on my way to significantly upgrading my shop when I responded to this:
http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/tls/898477876.html
(From the ad):Tools included:
Dewalt 7749 radial arm saw. Bought from a friend, barely used
Ryobi table saw. Bought new, ripped five sheets of plywood.
Craftsman 6 1/8″ jointer/planer. Bought new, never turned on.
Craftsman 12″ surface planer. Bought new, ran about ten boards through.
Craftsman deluxe router table. Bought new, never used. Not pictured.
I e-mailed the poster my cell number and waited . . . until I received the e-mail this morning telling me that the equipment had been sold. Ok, this isn’t necessarily the “dream shop,” but it sure looked like a lot for the price to me.
Now I know how the Chicago Cubs fans feel . . .

I wouldn't be surprised if someone bought the lot to piece it out on eBay or even re-sell the individual tools on Craig's List. Not that they're the greatest tools -- the jointer especially falls short of what you'd probably want -- but they might fetch a profit if sold individually.
Oh, they weren't the tools of my dreams, but for the price that wasn't a bad deal. Of course, that would be the impetus for building a real shop because I couldn't nearly fit all of that in my current space, but it would be a nice problem to have, wouldn't it?

The price seems right, and you mention a "current project" so, yep I can see why you'd be sadly disappointed to have missed out!
I can ID with the space problem! My tools will fit in the space I have, but need to be much better organized. We coming down the home stretch with the building of our new deck, so hopefully time will spring available soon!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Make sure to extend the deck so that you have a nice, dry walkway from the house all of the way to your shop! (Even better if you can make it downhill to the shop, and perfect if you can manage downhill both ways!!)

Isn't it odd how all our side projects take a toll on our shops? I've just finished a basement renovation, and then had to take amonth to get the shop cleaned up! I never even worked in there!
"...and then had to take amonth to get the shop cleaned up! I never even worked in there!" I know exactly what you mean!!! The fact that I've had to make a few cuts on the table saw, and run some boards through the planer, has at least gotten the shop to the point where I can walk through it, but not much better than that!!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Never fear the recession is here. There will be a lot of tools on Craigslist in the coming years. Patience, and maybe upgrade to some better tools than those listed if you can. Better to spend more on one tool that will meet your needs for years to come, than compromising and buying a lot of stuff that may not work out IMHO.

Good advice, Azmo. I would probably regret the little bench top jointer soon enough, and I already have a router table, but the overall package would have come in handy for my current project.
