I would like to thank everyone for the comments. We needed some prespective and thought this would be a good place to get it. My company is my wife, myself, the cat and of course Molly the shop dog.
We are new to working in the speculitive market place (after 15yrs in custom commision work) and wanted to tell the designers and reps to pound sand… but decided wise council before rath is always the way to go…thanks to your comments and kind remarks we are ready for alittle rath…
I have posted several times but never asked for help…you guys are great
Thank You

Coach,
Anytime one of us is brow beat into lowering prices in order to make the designers margins bigger it hurts all of us. The quickest way one can go out of business is to lower prices just to make sure that you have work. If you can't get work at a price that is conducive to making a decent profit then you don't need that work. You actually would be better off doing nothing or making a spec piece that you want to make. But when making a spec piece always make something that you would like to have, in the event that it doesn't sell then your home becomes your show room. However I only have 2 spec pieces that did not eventually sell, and that's because I decided that I wanted to keep them so I priced them so that I either did very well on them or they didn't sell.

Breseplane.com is that you?...great website and incredible work...do you, or would make a small shoulder plane? Really nice work on the furniture as well.
Your info was spot on as well...my wife and I feel a lot better after the support you guys have given...basically I have survived in a vacuum doing my thing making customs for clients...I deicided to make what I wanted to make and see if I could sell on speculation...so really new to the outside world.
Yep that's me Coach, of course plane making is just one of my pursuits. As far as shoulder planes are concerned, I've not gone there yet, but I may in the furture. I have a couple other plane ideas that are in line for prototyping. I think your sample web page looks quite good and the piece featured on that page is beautiful. After seeing the other piece and then the one on your web page, there is no way you should be making concessions on pricing.Ron BreseIf you're too open minded your brains will fall out.
