I havent been but my wife and I participate in the big art festivals (Cotton Wood, Fort Worth Main Street, Jazz on the Boulevard, etc). Talking to wood workers at these shows (there arent many at that level of show but those who can get in are good) they say that the TFMS tends to be very crafty and is mostly Rustic and Texas themed stuff. Lots of stars, rusty iron, rough cedar and mesquite or whimsical painted stuff, or carved animals. There are only a couple of good contemporary furniture makers showing refined pieces that would be found in Arcitechual Digest.
I guess you can tell what my tastes are. :-)
I do keep intending to enter the competition and attend the show for the potiential contacts that might develop. But it hasn't been importaint enough for me to do it. If you are into the Texan rustic interpetation of current contempory design (think Sam Maloof colaborating with Big Tex) then you will get a lot out of it. If you are hoping to see the type of work that is in FWW dont expect much. Having said all that..... I hope to see you there.
Pardon my spelling,
Mike
Make sure that your next project is beyond your skill and requires tools you don't have. You won't regret it.
