I have a client who has a commercial teak veneer table and sideboard (top surfaces)which have:
1) what appears to be a semi-circular burn/scorch mark
2) those ugly white circles – which I haven’t succeeded with the linen/iron trick
3) a circular black stain – which could be dirt, rust or ??? – also no results from the iron trick.
I haven’t used any chemical stuff and looking for suggestions – or are we really looking at re-veneering?
Thanks,
Doug

Doug,
The black rings are more of a problem than the white ones
The white one; you may be able to get it out by using a little denatured alcohol. Make a small round pad out of some soft cloth, wet it with the alcohol so it is damp but not wet. Using a light pendulum motion, lightly go back and forth over the white area. It may come out after a minute or two. Don't over do this as you can also pull the finish off. Let it sit for a while and come back and try it again if it is still there.
The black ring is most likely a water stain and to get that out the finish needs to come off. You are looking at bleaching to remove it (and that's not always a sure thing)
The scorch mark is the most trouble. They don't like to go away.
Unless you are very conversant in refinishing, a redo of the veneer may be your best option.
Sorry for the delay, I'm on the road.
Peter
