I am about to try Target Coating Oxford Premium Spay Lacquer and their 8800 sealer. I will be using a HVLP tubine sprayer. Can anyone give me a hands on recommendation. I usually use dewaxed shellac prior to any top coats as this seems to enhance the wood grain. I will rub the gloss lacquer out to semi-gloss or whatever sheen I feel looks good.
It will be applied to sycamore and a wood that looks like rosewood but isn’t, I can’t remember the name offhand.
Thank you.

I use the PSL over dewaxed garnet shellac and really do like the look, I don't see the need for the
sealer if you like the look of shellac. The shellac will give you the nice amber tones that the PSL lacks. When I first tried the PSL I was using a turbine gun and got results that were marginal at best. I subsequently changed over to a compressor driven HVLP and have been happy since. If you persist with the turbine try starting with the fluid control knob closed and introduce material to the air flow in small increments until you find a point in which it can no longer atomize the material properly than back it back down a bit.

*You are going to probably find that spraying a lacquer with a turbine HVLP is very difficult. The turbine produces lots of heat and will cause your lacquer to be too hot to perform well. Turbines are generally marginal performers with fast drying materials.Test it out before you commit to it on your project. Spraying cardboard boxes is good practise and makes a good test.
