John, do you have any experience with a Tannewitz 8-inch jointer. I’m not asking for a criticism if you don’t like it, but I can’t find enough information for a comparison with, say, a powermatic 60B. I’m almost parallized now with making a decision on an 8-inch jointer. (and while I’m at it, a 15-20 inch planer) Any wisdom greatly appreciated. By the way, a third question: I bought a pm2000 table saw a couple months ago, and the arbor lock is about worn away. Cheap, cheap, steel – have you heard or seen this problem? Thanks
Jack

Jack,
Tannewitz doesn't make a jointer, are you thinking of Northfield or are you looking at the Max brand jointer being sold on the Tannewitz site?
Looking at the photo, the Max machine is almost certainly an Asian made tool and probably not significantly different from say a Grizzly or Powermatic of the same size.
The problem you are having with the arbor lock on your PM 2000 isn't unique, there are a few other reports also posted in Knots. This is certainly something that Powermatic will have to issue a fix for, so you should get in touch with them.
