Table Saw Sharpening or replace?
I purchased my current saw blade about 4 years ago. Its a dewalt combo 50 teeth. I keep the pitch and gunk down to a minimum; however, over the past few months I have noticed what I beleive is that it is starting to get dull (more pressure to move the stock thru the blade, burning, etc). Now since the blade is a few years old, was less than $70 when I purchased it, should I get it re-sharpened or get Santa to buy me a new one?
Thanks,
Barry

I vote for both. Over the years I've had good and bad luck with sharpening services. Someone else may know a reliable, affordable place you can send your blade off to for sharpening. Meanwhile, buy yourself a quality blade and, once sharpened, use this one for backup.
Barry,
Wow, 4 years is a long time. I change mine out every 4-6 weeks, but I use mine all day every day. I have mine sharpened by a local company and they charge $10 + 10 cents a tooth, so a 50 tooth costs $15.00. If there isn't a local sharpener in your area, I hear Forrest will sharpen blades mail-order, even non-Forrest blades. Might be worth checking out.

I like the "both" idea! IIRC, DeWalt only offers a 50T combo in their upper two lines (7150 or 7640), which are definitely worth resharpening. But it never hurts to have a second good blade on hand....possibly one that's a little different from the first so it has a slightly different set of strengths.

Its a good blade and you can return to DEwalt for sharpening, or use a local guy or forest. But its worth "re-newing".
