Cutter,
As I'm sure you are aware, a 1023s is much closer the the $775..mine was $795 and I think they are $825 now. I've never used the PM so I can only comment on the Grizz. Great machine..makes beautiful paper thin cuts...very solid and powerful....is changing the way I do things and lifting my quality standards. Good luck with your decision
I was looking at the 1023SL(left tilt) it's $895 and with the long fence rails about a grand. Thanks for the input. ....Cutter
Doc, everything I've learned about the 1023 has been in the forums. When people are wanting to sleep in their shops next to the 1023, gets one's attention for sure!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Not true...sleeping on the workbench was close enough to the griz...lol
hmmmmm as much as I love my tools & shop I never had a urge to sleep there, kind of odd dont you think??
Doc
The reason you couldn't sleep in your shop is you got so many Delta Girl and Ridgid Girl and God only knows what else posters, it would be impossible to get to sleep. ha..ha..
Back to the shop for a nap.....

On a serious note, check the stats on the 1023 with the 2 HP motor. I think it pulls about 17 or 18 amps. You would probaly have to have a dedicated 20 amp circuit just for the saw if you run anything else (shop vacuum) at the same time. For a man of your expertee, that should be as simple as nailing up another "girlee" poster to the shop wall. ha..ha..
Now, for that nap...

I have my tablesaw on a 30 amp single circuit now! soo it wouldnt be a big deal to put that 2 hp puppy in my shop,I really dont want to go thru the hassle of running 220 out to the shop not to mention the cost<G> althou if I had to I could throw in a new service rather quickly.. but not really looking forward to it and I dont see a need for it at this time...
and I dont have any girlie calandars,darn.. ToolDoc

You sly old dog, you. I should have known you probaly had a 30 amp line. The problem is solved, but hopefully someone that was not aware will pick up the info that are considering the 2 HP Griz. Then they will comment on how clever those old goats, Doc and Sarge are. Well, probaly not in our lifetime. ha..ha..
Now, how will that sparkling green blend with all those posters you don't have. Well, I guess when you feed a Grizzly color doesn't matter. Just watch the fingers and make sure she gets plenty of food. And warn the neighbors that the growl coming from your shop is just a big Grizzly. Nothing to worry about. <G>
Up for coffee, time for another nap in the shop... Take care!

A contractors saw is just that, a contractors saw. Motor hangs out the ars end and efficiency is lost with the long belts. Dust collection is much poorer. The weight of the cabinet dampens vibration. The way the arbor and guts are set up is like comparing a battle tank to an armoured personel carrier.
The Grizzly has been proven and you hear very few complaints. Price is right. I would love a General, but for the money the Grizzly makes sense. The custtomer service is excellent.
IMO, the Grizzly cabinet saw without a doubt over a PM or any contractor saw. Unless you're hauling it to job sites. Just my opinion.
Good luck and let us know what you think....

You'd probably be more satisfied with the Grizzly cabinet saw in the long run. I'm becoming more and more aware of the drawbacks of a contractor's saw, and when mine bites the dust, the 1023 is next in line. Sarge is right, there are many happy owners out there.

I have my eye on the Grizzly 1023 the one feature that I think is most usefull is that it can be ordered with either a 220 volt or 110/120 volt motor, 3hp is 220 and the 2 hp is 110/120 this is a big help to the shop owners who dont have 220 in there shops or dont want to go to the added expense of adding it just cause they want to upgrade there power tools..we just added a Grizzly 1023 3 hp cabinet saw to our shop at work the shop fox fence just glides across the table and the saw has plenty of power to handle most any job we throw at it..I may just have to add one of these puppies to my well stocked shop.. and thats tough for a true blue Delta fan like myself to admit too....<G> but hey compare prices on a Delta uni-saw or a PM or a General and the Grizzly wins out on price..soo unless I win the lottery guess IM going to get a Grizz..sometime in the near future...
soo First Lady of the Forest , I guess you sort of kinda do have a pretty good knowelge of power tools, musta been reading those books you bought at that sale..<G>..LOL...
Take care.. ToolDoc
