A while back I asked our knowledgeable folk in this thread about table saw “clunk” when I started my Unisaw. There were several suggestions as to what to do to repair/eliminate this anoying ” clunk”. I tried several ideas which seemed to help somewhat, but not a total fix. Finally the other day I got around to replacing the belts, which was one of the original repair suggestions, but it is not real easy to access the belts under the top as you know. So I said “what the heck” and dove in head first—-literally—-under the top and replaced all 3 belts with link belts. Many folk said you only need to replace 2 out of the 3 and it would work just fine, but since I was already under there I went for the whole ball of wax. After all was said and done, and I came up for air, I stood back and pushed the Green/On switch. Boy, was I pleased. The old Unisaw started up smooth as a baby’s bottom. I was so happy I just sat there and turned it on 5-6 times. Smooooooth. So thank everyone who made that suggestion

Nice! Link belts will stretch a bit with use, so be sure to go back in eventually to tighten them up.
Cool! Thanks for letting us know. The clunk that my Unisaw emits occasionally isn't a huge deal, but it'd be nice to eliminate.
How many feet of link belt did it take?
I need to do the same, my Unisaw makes the same clunk.
And do not forget to be sure the motor and arbor pullies are tight to their shafts. Al loos pulley will do the same but probably on startup AND slowdown to stop....
