I see where Finewood Working is recommending a General brand table saw in the new issue. Is anyone familiar with these? Where can you purchase them?

Applelaneman,
The General is made in Canada and the General International is China. General is considered equal to, and by some, better than the Powermatic and Delta.
Don't know where your located, but I go up to Brentwood Machine in NH to see General ...there is also a dealer in RI

General is an excellent TS. General International is there made abroad version. I have looked at the General closely as we have a dealer here in Atlanta. Very well built.
To find the closest dealer, click on here. Look for the distributors link and click on from there. You can also check out all their tools from this main web-site in Canada.

That will get you there. Enjoy.......

Thank You both. I appreciated the info.
Tough to find a better contractor saw at the price of a GI 50-175 or 50-185. The fence is the same Canadian made General T-fence that comes on General's cabinet saws. It also sports one of the better stock miter gauges on the market. My GI 50-185 is less than a year old and was made in Taiwan (not China). It looks remarkably similar to the $900 Jet and PM64a (w/o the mirror top!). Can't help but recommend it until someone steps up with a better deal.
