Virtually everyone who has bought a SawStop saw has thought that the quality of the machine easily justified the price, even without considering the added value of the brake mechanism. And, as is often pointed out, the cost of treating even a relatively minor table saw injury probably could easily exceed the extra cost of the saw.
The SawStop will typically cut wet wood without having to turn off the brake mechanism. With exceptionally wet wood, the machine will turn itself off, without triggering the brake, and you will have to use a switch on the control box to turn off the brake controls to finish the cut.
