The clutter of odd storage containers for screws and other supply items for projects finally tested my patience. These three supply cabinets provided a solution; which keeps the clutter in check and allows for quick location of a particular size screw, hinge, or cabinet handle. There are three cabinets in this group in all four feet high,
11 feet long, and 14 inches deep. The body of the cabinets is maple 3/4 plywood with box jointed corners. French cleats hold them to the walls, and the doors are rail and stile hard maple with brown ash raised panels. Inside the cabinets there are louvered steel panels screwed to the 3/4 inch plywood back of the cabinet. On the lips of the louvers there are 120 labeled plastic boxes that hold the various items that I used to search for all the time. The cabinets have lowered the frustration level.

I'm so jealous. I definitely need to put a hardware cabinet on my list of hsop projects. You've inspired me to get organized.
Samson,Lowering the frustration level in the workshop seems to make the whole experience easier and more enjoyable. Perhaps it improves on productivity as well; however, the primary gain is lowering frustration.
Over the past year, I have focused on some ideas to lower frustration through better organization. It has made a positive impact... well worth the time and effort. Moksha
Moksha,
Nice job!!!
I was considering the el-cheapo route by just buying some cabinets from Grizzly, as I'm still completing my shop and time is always an issue for me. Decided against that and will put in the time to do this properly.
If I may ask, how many $$$'s went into your materials?

Willie,A difficult question but I shall try. 2 sheets of 3/4" maple plywood about $80
1 Sheet of cheap 3/4" for the backs $24
The brown ash and hard maple were on sale quite cheap and perhaps there is about $100 in the doors for the cabinets. Originally I purchased about 500 board feet at the cheap prices and did not keep track of how much I used on these cabinets.
8 pair of European style hinges.. at 5 to $11 a pair, had some
in the junk box and bought a couple pair to finish the job. The two foot wide doors were quite heavy so they have three hinges. The 18" doors have two hinges. The expensive part was the louvered steel plates for the back
and the 120 plastic boxes; these came to $290. The net result is that they most likely cost about $600
to make. Hope this information is useful..
