I think the studley tool chest is a work of art.
I have it as my desktop as we speak (write?, type?).
My question is: While I have seen several articles on the chest, I dont recall ever seeing an inventory. Has anyone seen a list of what all is in there?
I am just curious, as every time I look closely at the picture, I see something new.

There's an inventory in the May, 1993 article in FWW (Issue 100).

It certainly is amazing. I believe it was about two or three years ago that Norm Abrams, New Yankee Workshop, was actually able to "TOUCH" it.
...a bad day at the beach is better than a good day anywhere else... :)
The link below is the article and list of contents. Found this on a masonic site.

Jarhead,
Thanks for the link. Very nice.
Ooh Rah,Joe
Is it really saw dust or wood dust?
Yes, thanks!I only wish the quality was a bit better. Too bad FWW doesn't have this article in their on-line section...
Jarhead,
Thanks for the link.
The inventory only lists about 100 tools. Does anyone know of a comprehensive list?
You know, 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, etc chisels, etc, etc.

Used to work at the Smithsonian where the chest now resides. Got to see it, touch it, play with the tools etc...very cool. Looks better in real life than in the pics.

I was under the understanding that the tool chest was sold to another individual by the grandson who loaned it to the Smithsonian and assumed that is was no longer at the Smithsonian. I tried to no avail find it at their site.

The Chest was sold to a private tool collector in the Midwest for an undisclosed sum of money. He (supposedly) loans it to the Smithsonian from time to time for exhibition.
I have repeatedly written to the curators of the SI to inquire about dimensioned drawings of the chest that were mentioned in the 1993 article as being in the works and to date have never gotten a reply.
