Most of the glues when used under ideal conditions are usually far stronger than the wood itself so for ordinary cabinet work there is little practical difference.
Under less than ideal conditions, high moisture levels, vibration, stress, laminating, exotic wood species, et-cetera then the glue needs to be chosen for the specific conditions. Usually the best approach is to do some research to narrow down the choices and then to contact the glue manufacturers to pick the specific glue type, formulation, and application technique.
