I have made several projects in the past, where I am using stile and rail measurements which were supplied to me, or I’ve copied measurements from a ready made unit.
In this case, I am designing a customized vanity, with a drawer at the kickplate, and a drawer inside the vanity area, to use some of the dead space under the sink, and 3 drawers on one side.
The sides and double doors, will be raised panels, within the stiles and rails.
Aesthetically, how much wider should the lower rail be to the top one. The door stiles and top rail are 1 1/2 inches wide. The side stiles and top rail are 2 1/2 inches wide.
Thanks

hey recruiter,
when in trade school, i was taught to make the face frame stiles 2", the top rail 2-1/2" and the bottom rail 3/4". the door stiles were to be 2-1/4", bottom rail 3" and top rail at 2-1/4". in my own practice i've increased the bottom face frame rail to 1-1/2". i imagine that most of these numbers are arbitrary, some fit into needed standards and all are subject to change according to what looks good.
welcome,by the way.
