Hello all . I have recently been given a fairly large amount of YEW. mainly branchwood but of nice sizes and reasonable lengths. I made a Windsor chair in beech a year or so ago and now I want to make another using the YEW. The timber has been cut and stored under cover for about 7 years. As I want to split some of the sections to make opposite parts ( book match arms, outer rails etc ) because of the curve on some pieces I have steamed a couple of pieces (now in cramps in the workshop) While I have steamed ash /mahogany etc I have no experience with YEW. Any comments on stability /staining etc would be appreciated.
regards Teabag. p.s. my first chair is ref no 17294.1 11.11.05 & I hope to reduce some of the section sizes this time.

Tea,
I must admit that when I saw 'steamed yew' I thought of making a classic
long bow. This and Osage Orange are prime contenders for this application.
yeah I was wondering if it's history of bow making didn't indicate a lot of spring back.
