Thank you “Craigs list” Just picked up a pretty nice Stanley #7C type 15 (1931-32) for the cost of four pens I turned. Before you say why not an 8? Well at 5’4″ , l60 lbs. and 60 a 7C is enough. Now for the clean up. Not worried about the Antique Road show etiquette, going to make it a user and pretty.

Hi Bruce,
Ain't picking up good user tools for next to nothing absolutely great? Here are a couple of before and after pictures of a Stanley No 3 I cleaned up. Enjoy the ride with your No 7.

Nice transformation from rags to riches! Luckily I won't have to do as much magic. Mostly crud, caked dried out oil/dust mix with very minimal rust(no pitting) all japanning there. One minimal ding in the knob and a little chip on the lever cap at the chip breaker end, but not enough to effect function.Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

Nice job on the #3, what did you clean all the rust and crud off with?Troy
Hi Troy,
I take the plane apart and soak it in a contanier filled with Evaporust for a day. Then buff the parts with steel wool and put it back together.
that's pretty much what I do, too, unless something is frozen, and then things can get to be a pain.J
ThanksTroy
