Does anyone have input as to what company has the best supply of Brass/Stainless steel hardware for outdoor furniture? Going to Lowes and local hardware stores yields door hinges and VERY few stainless steel bolts/screws that is it. Looking for places that have bolts, screws, hinges, etc… for my outdoor furniture project. Thank you for the help.

Lee Valley has an entire thick catalogue devoted to hardware. Check online here:

I got the Lee Valley hardware catalog in the mail and it has tons of stuff. Unfortunately, most of the hardware is REALLY nice stuff. Some of the hinges and fasteners I am looking to use won't be seen and I don't want to have to drop $12 per hinge when I will use 8 of them per piece and I am building 9 of them. Maybe I am just cheap, I dunno.
I will of course use some of the Lee Valley hardware on the more visible things. I was hoping people know of other places so I wouldn't be stuck spending $200 on hardware per item I build. Then again, everything I have built so far has never used hardware past a pullknob or a piano hinge. This is something I am just starting to work with, deversifying my talents a little. Thanks for the help, I really need it.

John,
Try Rockler for hardware and McFeeleys for stainless or brass fasteners. Both have good websites.

Try Jamestown Distributors, I have been ordering from them for many years.

You might try looking at marine supply stores. I've found stainless hardware at a local place, though it can be pricey.
Fortunately for me, I live right on the Puget sound in a fishing/sailing town. They do have very nice hardware that I may end up using. I still can't believe the cheapest hinge I can find is $7. I guess it is new to me and I just have to pony up the cash for the project. Thank you all for the links to sites, many of them are going to be useful. Thanks for the help so far!

Keep checking and stay away from USBoats and West Marine type places. In Newport Beach, CA I go to Minney's Chandlery for SS hardware. They have bins and buckets of stuff. Some used and some just NOS. If you don't mind a little rummaging you can pick stuff up for pennies on the dollar.John O'Connell - JKO Handcrafted Woodworking
